Desert Dove is here!

Upon arriving in Arizona, where she wrote much of the album, Michaela stumbled upon a book: Soiled Doves: Prostitution in the Early West. Struck by the book’s assertion that most women died from loneliness, she was hit with the titular track of her album. Recorded in the vast openness of the California desert, Michaela explores different themes of connection and loneliness throughout her own life. Through lost friendships, romantic partners, and moving around the country with her family, she examines the complexities of her relationships with others. Her album evokes the classic songwriting of Patty Loveless with modern effects of Tame Impala. Michaela’s style straddles the line of being both current and timeless, with intimate, universal lyrics.
